A fixed plan of about 8GB for 7 days
The figure comes from the usage level you picked times your days, plus 15% headroom, not from any plan's price or our margin.
eSIM reviews from eSIMonline customers
People who bought an eSIM from us, on how it went.
Five days in Seoul on a daily plan. Maps and translation all day and it never ran out. I liked that the site named the carrier before I paid, so I knew which network I would get.
I was worried about China because I need LINE and Google. I asked on LINE at nine at night and someone answered, explaining the plan properly. It worked exactly as described.
Da Nang with the family. I shared a hotspot with my partner, as the spec table said I could. Good signal in town, and it still worked up at Ba Na Hills.
OilMy first eSIM. I followed the iPhone steps one by one and was done in under ten minutes. Switched it on in Taipei and it just worked. No more airport SIMs for me.
Switzerland and Italy on one Europe plan, across the border without changing anything. Far cheaper than roaming with my Thai carrier.

Where to buy an eSIM: six things to check before you pay
There are plenty of eSIM shops. Prices differ a little; conditions differ a lot. These six checks work on any of them, ours included.
- 1
The real local network, named
A travel eSIM roams onto a local operator, and that operator decides how good the signal is. A shop that will not name it gives you nothing to compare.
- 2
Every condition before checkout
When the validity starts, whether hotspot is allowed, the daily full-speed ceiling on unlimited plans, and the speed you drop to once the quota is gone.
- 3
An instant QR code with install steps
No shipping and no waiting for an agent. Payment should be followed straight away by the QR code and steps for iPhone and Android.
- 4
Someone to reach mid-trip
eSIM problems tend to surface after landing. A chat channel that works from abroad, such as LINE or WhatsApp, matters more than an office-hours phone line.
- 5
A refund policy in writing
If you buy the wrong plan or the trip moves, you should know before paying which cases are refunded and within how many days.
- 6
The price shown is the price paid
No fee appearing at checkout, and a payment system that never hands your card number to the shop.
eSIM compared with roaming, an airport SIM and pocket Wi-Fi
| What you compare | Travel eSIM | Home-carrier roaming | Airport SIM card | Pocket Wi-Fi |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | Pay per plan, price shown before you buy | Usually the most per GB or per day | Airport prices often above city prices | Daily rental, sometimes a deposit |
| When data starts | On landing, installed at home beforehand | On landing | After queueing at the airport | After collecting the device |
| Home number and SMS codes | Home SIM stays in, SMS still arrives | Same number | Home SIM out if the phone has one slot | Home SIM stays in |
| Things to carry | Nothing | Nothing | A SIM card and SIM tool | Another device to charge and return |
| Sharing | Hotspot on plans that allow it | Possible, but data goes fast | Hotspot possible | Built for several devices |
| Phone requirements | Must support eSIM and be unlocked | None | None | None |

Choose your destination and plan
Read the data, validity, networks used and hotspot rules in each plan's spec table before you decide.
Pay and get the eSIM by email
We only order from the supplier after payment succeeds, then send the QR code and install steps to your inbox.
Install at home on Wi-Fi
Installation needs internet, so do it before you fly. Installing is not activating, so the clock has not started yet.
Switch the line on when you land
Leave airplane mode, enable the eSIM line, set it as the data line, and keep roaming data off on your home SIM.

Does your phone support eSIM? Check in a minute
No need to take your SIM out — just look for an Add eSIM option in settings.
iPhone
- Open Settings
- Tap Cellular (Mobile Data on some models)
- If you see Add eSIM, the phone supports it
Android
- Samsung: Settings > Connections > SIM manager
- Pixel and others: Settings > Network & internet > SIMs
- If you see Add eSIM or Download a SIM, the phone supports it
How to install an eSIM, step by step, at home before you fly
- Connect to stable Wi-Fi and open the QR email on another screen, such as a laptop or tablet.
- Go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM.
- Choose Use QR Code and scan it. If scanning fails, enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code from the email by hand.
- Label the new line, for example Travel, so it is not confused with your own SIM.
- Keep your own SIM as the primary line for calls and iMessage.
- Under Cellular Data, choose Travel and turn off Allow Cellular Data Switching.
- On arrival, turn the Travel line on and switch on Data Roaming for that line.
- Keep data roaming off on your own SIM for the whole trip to avoid roaming charges.
Each QR code installs once. Do not delete the eSIM from the phone until the trip is over.
- Connect to stable Wi-Fi and open the QR email on another screen.
- Samsung: Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM.
- Pixel: Settings > Network & internet > SIMs > Add SIM > Download a SIM instead.
- Scan the QR code or enter the activation code from the email, then confirm.
- Rename the new eSIM, for example Travel.
- Under Mobile data, choose the Travel eSIM as the data line.
- On arrival, switch on Roaming for the Travel eSIM.
- Keep roaming off on your own SIM for the whole trip.
Menu names vary a little by brand. If you cannot find it, search for eSIM in the Settings search bar.
- Open your order page from the link in the email.
- If the plan supports top-ups, a top-up button lets you pick a size.
- Pay, and the data lands on the same eSIM — no new QR code to scan.
Only plans marked as top-up capable can be topped up. If yours cannot, buy a new plan and install it as a second profile on the same phone.
It says the eSIM cannot be added+
Check you are on Wi-Fi and the phone is not carrier-locked. Do not scan again and again. If it still fails, send your order number and a screenshot on LINE.
It is stuck on Activating while I am still at home+
That is normal: a foreign eSIM cannot find its own network yet. Leave the settings screen; it does not affect use at the destination.
I have landed but there is no internet+
Check roaming is on for the eSIM line and that the eSIM is the data line, then toggle airplane mode once. If it still fails, pick the network by hand using the operator named in the spec table.
I deleted the eSIM by mistake+
Most profiles cannot be reinstalled. Message us with your order number and we will ask the supplier whether it can be reissued.
The signal shows LTE, not 5G+
That is normal. LTE is 4G, and most plans run mainly on 4G/LTE. Each plan's spec table says whether 5G is available.

What an eSIM is, and why travellers now buy an eSIM instead of a SIM card
An eSIM is a digital SIM installed straight onto a chip inside your phone. Instead of inserting a plastic card, you scan the QR code we email you and the phone downloads the carrier profile. Your own SIM stays where it is, so one phone carries two lines: your home number for calls and one-time codes, and a travel eSIM for data.
Buying an eSIM online means it is done from home: no SIM queue at arrivals, no SIM tool to carry, and no home-carrier roaming, which usually costs several times more per gigabyte. Most plans only start counting days when the phone first joins a network at the destination, so you can buy well ahead.
Four genuinely different shapes, and the catch in each
| Type | Suits | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed GB | Short to medium trips where you know your usage | Unused data expires with the plan |
| Daily | Long trips or steady daily use | Full-speed data resets daily and does not carry over |
| Unlimited | Travellers who do not want to count gigabytes | There is a daily full-speed ceiling; past it you are throttled under FUP |
| Regional | Itineraries that cross several countries | Higher price per GB than single-country plans, with some territories excluded |
How many gigabytes does this trip need?
Computed from how you use data, not from the plan we would like to sell.
8 GB
About 0.9 GB a day over 7 days, plus 15% headroom for the heavier days.
This is an estimate from typical usage patterns, not a measurement of your phone. For a real number, check the data usage stats from your last trip.

The questions we are asked most
Where is the best place to buy an eSIM?+
Choose a shop that names the real network at the destination, states every condition before you pay, sends the QR code instantly, can be reached mid-trip and has a written refund policy. eSIMonline does all five, and refunds a plan in full within 14 days if it was never installed.
How do I buy an eSIM, and how long does it take?+
Pick a destination and a plan, pay by card or PromptPay, and the QR code arrives by email straight away. Installing takes under ten minutes on Wi-Fi. It is all online — there is nothing to collect.
Should I buy an eSIM at the airport or in advance?+
In advance. Installing needs internet, which you may not have on arrival, and airport prices tend to be higher. Most plans start counting when the phone first joins a network at the destination, so buying early costs nothing.
How much does an eSIM cost?+
It depends on the destination, the data and the number of days. Every plan's full price is shown on the destination page before you pay, with no fee added at checkout.
What is an eSIM and how does it differ from a normal SIM?+
An eSIM is a SIM profile installed straight onto a chip inside the phone. There is no plastic card, so you can buy and install before you travel and keep your existing SIM in place.
When does the validity start?+
Most plans start on first connection at the destination rather than at purchase, though some start at purchase. Each plan's spec table states which.
Do I keep my own number?+
Yes. A travel eSIM is a separate data line; your home SIM stays in the phone and still receives calls and bank OTPs. Just switch its roaming data off.
Does my phone support eSIM?+
Dial *#06# and look for an EID line. You can also search your model in our device checker, though what the handset itself reports is the most reliable answer.
How far ahead should I buy?+
For plans that start on first connection you can buy whenever, but install one to two days before the flight so there is time to fix any problem.
What if installation fails?+
Message us with your order number, handset model and a screenshot of the cellular settings. Do not delete the profile, because it installs only once.
Can I share a hotspot?+
Only on plans that say so, and we show it in every spec table. Some plans, especially cheap unlimited ones, restrict or forbid it.
Is there a phone number and SMS?+
Most plans are data-only with no number for SMS. If you need Thai bank OTPs, keep your home SIM in the phone with that line enabled.
What speeds should I expect?+
It depends on the networks the plan uses and local congestion. We do not guarantee a speed figure, and we do not publish test results we did not run.
Can prices show in another currency?+
Yes, from the header. Prices are held in USD and converted for display; the amount actually charged depends on the payment provider and your bank.
Can I top up?+
Only on plans marked as top-up capable. If yours is not, buy another plan and install it as a second profile on the same phone.
When can I get a refund?+
The refund policy sets it out: broadly, when a plan does not work as described and cannot be fixed. Plans already activated and used generally cannot be refunded.
